FourPoint Mapping were approached to help promote tourism in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB) by means of creating an attractive, informative map and leaflet which would introduce potential visitors to the many features, attractions and long-distance walking routes in the area.

At a scale of 1:30,000 and with no local roads, the A2 map is for non-navigational purposes. Rather, it aims to place the many features and attractions in context with each other, the nearby urban areas, major transport links, and the AONB’s boundary itself. Creative use of some delicate hill-shading helps convey the interesting topography of the region, while attractive fonts and colours pick-out the large amount of information without looking too busy. Packed with photographs and interesting text the 55,000 copies that were printed will no doubt go some way to increase visitor numbers.

"… I absolutely love it. The images look great – really crisp, the printing looks good and I really like the feel of the paper.
And the actual map itself is fab – I think it’s really going to draw people in … I think it’s going to really encourage people get out there and find something new. Thank you so much."
