We created the first edition of the ‘Stroud District Cycling Map’ way back in 2007, and this summer Stroud Town Council recently launched its long-awaited 3rd edition.

The finished article. Five-thousand copies were initially printed and distributed around the district.
The finished article. Five-thousand copies were initially printed and distributed around the district.

The 2025 version includes countless updates to the mapping and content: the cartography was refreshed with some new categorisations and symbols, and cycleable Public Rights of Way were added along with contour lines. All-new attractions and facilities were included with accompanying all-new content. Three brand-new urban inset maps of Minchinhampton, Painswick and Berkeley were created, and new front- and back-covers and an overview map complete the new look.

The rural map side shows the whole of the Stroud district at a scale of 1:46,000, and the urban insets overleaf are all at 1:15,000. The 792mm x 630mm sheet folds to the convenient pocket-size of 157mm x 99mm.

This incredibly useful pocket-sized guide goes into fantastic detail and will hopefully go some way to encourage residents and visitors to explore this glorious region by bike.

The new cover - which we also designed for them - features some of the famous buildings you can find around the district. The Dursley Town Hall image has a stylised gentleman riding a ‘Dursley Pedersen’ in front of it: patented in 1890 by local inventor Mikael Pedersen, by the 1920s 30,000 of these uniquely-designed bicycles were made in the town.
