In October 2024 we were commissioned by Minchinhampton Parish Council to create, design and produce an attractive Information Map to welcome and entice visitors to their historic and picturesque village.
Following a meeting where the extent and content of the cartography was decided upon, we set about originating a map that was both accurate, and had an illustrative quality. The resultant detailed map is at a scale of 1:1,650 and is derived from Ordnance Survey’s VectorMap Local datasets. There is also a panel devoted to 10 local highlights which features hand-drawn illustrations along with some interesting facts and descriptions.
The finished Visitors’ Map measures almost 1.5m x 1m and is printed on 220micron vinyl, laminated, and housed in a brand-new display cabinet that was specially purchased by the Council, and installed in their Bell Lane car park on the very edge of Minchinhampton Common. If and when the map needs updating or replacing, printing on 220micron vinyl means that reprints are inexpensive to produce.
